Munkki (Killing me softly)
ELO Elo Film School Finland, 2026
Nothing at the Soldiers’ Home suggests that it is 2025 and that the world is on the brink of a third world war. Once again, the Sisters are eagerly preparing for the arrival of a new batch of conscripts. The jam-doghnut (fin. munkki) machine rattles away, the dishwasher roars, and napkins are folded. The sisterhood works with practiced efficiency and in its own distinctive, crisp style. The documentary Munkki (Killing me softly) follows the volunteer Soldiers’ Home Sisters engaged in national defence work, as well as the young conscripts who are the Soldiers’ Home´s cutomers..
